Leanne McCarther, 40, left a rural residence on Glanworth Drive on foot and hasn't been seen or heard from since by family members, who are concerned for her wellbeing.        London Free Press

"Quote" An 81-year-old city man is dead, and three suspects are charged with first-degree murder, in what police are calling a "brutal" killing. Police say they believe Romeo Marentette, 81, was killed in his high-rise apartment, Thames Towers at 650 Grand Ave. W., between last Thursday evening and Friday.  Video surveillance tape from the complex may have played a key role in the investigation, an official with the property management company suggested in a letter to high-rise tenants.   London Free Press

"Quote" The son of a 59-year-old woman found dead in her Brampton home Monday has been charged with second-degree murder. Justin Lima, 28, was arrested yesterday around 7 p.m. in Pickering and charged this morning, said Const. Marlene Murphy. "He will be making a brief court-apperance sometime today then he will be remanded into custody," she said.    Toronto Star

The incident reportedly occured at Hi-Knoll Park off Colebrook Road (50th Avenue) and 196th. Cpl. "Quote" Authorities are probing a shooting involving a Calgary police officer earlier this morning. Details regarding the incident are sketchy at this point, but a man was seriously wounded at about 3:15 a.m. near the Western Pride Car Wash in the 4000 block of Richmond Road S.W. The incident will be investigated by the Alberta Serious Incident Response Team, a provincial squad mandated to probe officer conduct in events that result in serious injury or death.
